Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The D-Link Wireless N USB Adapter (DWA-130) provides a better wireless signal for your computer than existing wireless 802.11g technology. Adding Wireless N to your computer provides an excellent solution for doing everyday activities such as transferring files, browsing the Internet, and downloading music. D-Link Wireless N products use Intelligent Antenna technology to transmit multiple streams of data which enable you to receive wireless signals in the farthest corners of your home. Not only does D-Link's Wireless N technology extend your wireless range, it also works with your existing 802.11g and 802.11b wireless routers and access points.

1 out of 5 stars Wireless nothing   January 6, 2009
We bought this to try to get my son's computer connected to the wireless router in my office. Despite various attempts to install it, including different drivers and calls to tech support, we were never able to get this to work properly. We ended up getting a Dynex wireless "G" card instead which worked properly the first time. The DWA-130 was quite a disappointment.

5 out of 5 stars Works Great, easy to set up!!!!!!!   January 1, 2009
I am new to networking computers, this is the first time for me. I bought a D link Extreme N router d Link card for my lap top, and this D link 130 wireless USB adapter foe another computer in the house. All three were easy to set up ans work great, I took about 30 minutes to do all three, and we are getting strong singles and high speeds on both computers.

5 out of 5 stars Pleasantly Surprised   December 31, 2008
I bought this adapter (Rev. B1) because I wanted to upgrade my Dell 1520 Notebook (Vista Ultimate 32 bit) from Wireless G to Wireless N. Installation was simple and only took a few minutes. I discarded the CD and loaded the most recent firmware from D-Links site. I then was prompted to insert the adapter into a USB port. After a couple of minutes, I was prompted to enter my SSID and Password. Bingo. Now I get a consistent 270 Mbps, with a good signal.

D-Link would like you to think that you only get the fastest wireless speeds if you use this adapter with one of their Routers. But I found that this adapter works great with my Netgear WNR2000 Router.

Make sure you get the Rev. B1 model or C1 model (not Rev. A1)

1 out of 5 stars Didn't last   December 23, 2008
I purchased this D-Link about a year ago when I was trying to get my mother in law's computer (desktop xp) to work on our system. The signal strength was weak so I did something else to get her's working on our internet. After keeping in on a shelf for awhile my daughter started 10th grade this past fall and was needing the internet quite frequently. So, instead of her using my laptop I go this out and gave it to her when she needed the internet (She's a good kid! I just don't like my kids to have the internet while we're not around). She's used it off and on (about twice a week) on her desktop computer which runs xp. It just puked last week. I'm looking at trying the 140 now as I wasn't impressed with this 130.

The placement of my daughters computer was on the same level as my router and she only had one wall to go through for the signal. The strength was medium to low.

I also want to mention that the case for this adapter is VERY flimsy. It fell apart quite a few times that I finally had to use tape to keep the case together. That was back in September when I went to give it to her. (no it wasn't abused it was just poor product cheapness, but what isn't cheaply made any more???)...

4 out of 5 stars Performs exactly as expected   December 23, 2008
Purchased the DWA-130 and was surprised when it connected with my old Netgear WN834M router at 270-300 mbps speed. I live in a brownstone. The router is upstairs, the DWA 130 is downstairs (just beneath me). Even my laptop on the same floor connects at only 144 (due to some issue with encryption and the built in N card). It runs solid, dropping to 165 speed for a few seconds (if there is interference). Even at the worst speed, it's performing better than my Powerlink HD adapter that has never reached 100 mbps. Only four stars cause it's not 5ghz and when all my wireless devises are running, it tends to interfere.
